b. 1999
Artist, Community Facilitator
Kyra Zhang is a Chinese artist based in London. Her practice centres on participatory and socially engaged experiences, working across installation, workshops, and event-based formats. Rooted in an interest in collective interaction, her work invites audiences into temporary environments that prioritise presence, co-creation, and play.

Central to Kyra’s practice is the use of gamification as both an engaging and entertaining device and a subtle critical strategy. By applying systems of rules, choice, and chance, her works open up new frameworks for engagement where meaning is produced collaboratively and often unpredictably.

Kyra’s installations are not fixed objects but dynamic platforms activated by the people who enter them. Each project becomes a social space in flux, shaped by movement, dialogue, and mutual attention. Through this approach, she explores how art can become a rehearsal for new forms of relation, temporary yet impactful, structured yet open-ended.

Ultimately, Kyra’s practice explores the social potential of shared space. By foregrounding process, ambiguity, and collective agency, she creates conditions where meaning emerges through interaction. These temporary environments blur the line between art and life, inviting participants to inhabit a space of possibility—one where new ways of relating and being together can briefly take shape.
